The Leelanau County Democratic Party is growing -- in
numbers, activities and ways to serve our community.
The tremendous success we experienced in the 2008
elections has energized us to take on ever greater goals.
Opportunities to contribute ideas, time and talent are
limitless.
Please consider becoming involved in:
- Blue Tigers: Putting our democratic principles
into action, Blue Tiger volunteers help out with
critical and rising community needs. On January
17 more than 20 volunteers conducted a county-
wide food drive to restock County food pantries.
We have adopted 4 miles of Leelanau County
highways, work as ushers at the State Theater in
TC, and are looking for more ways to serve the
community in meaningful ways.
- Programs: Leelanau Dems hold periodic open
meetings for our membership and the entire
community on topics of interest and importance in
the County Help us explore programs and speakers
that are exceptionally educational and informative
for these meetings.
- Campaigns and Candidates: What is a political
party without great candidates to support? We're
fortunate in Leelanau County to have had many
outstanding candidates run and be elected for
local and state office, and we want to encourage
many more people to follow in these footsteps.
We'll offer advice and support. Contact us!
- Events Committee: Democrats enjoy a good
time, especially when it's a good time for a good
cause. Beginning with our Winter Fling in
February, we will have events throughout the
year. We are also planning a BBQ in June, and
other fun events. Check our Calendar Page
regularly for updates.
- Other Committees: Education, Membership,
Publication, PR, and more. Click here to check
our Committee Chair and Officer list. Go to the
"Contact Us" page to send us a message. We'd
love to have your help!
"Everybody can be great,
because anybody can serve."

If you are interested in helping with any of these committees and programs,
please use the electronic form on our "Contact Us" page to let us know how you
want to help.
Our representative democracy works best if its citizens actively participate in the marketplace of ideas. One of the most effective ways to do this is by writing letters to the editors of newspapers. Use the handy links below to express your views on important issues.
Please remember to include your name, address and phone number with your letter.
